Prime Infra gets the green light from IPs for a water supply project


RAZON-LED Prime Infrastructure Holdings Corp. (Prime Infra) announced that it has obtained the consent of the Dumagat-Remontado (PA) indigenous peoples for the second phase of its bulk water supply project in Rizal.

In a press release, the company said that the approval of the fourth and final Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) in the Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) process “is a major step in helping to effectively and sustainably resolve impending water shortages in Metro Manila”, alleviate flooding in lower areas of Rizal Province, Marikina City and Pasig City “and improve the lives of project host communities in Rizal Province”.

Phase II of the Wawa Bulk Water Supply Project, Upper Wawa Dam, aims to supply at least 518 million liters per day to over 500,000 households in Metro Manila and Rizal.

The negotiations and signing of the MoA were overseen by the CLIP team and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).

WawaJVCo is a joint venture between Prime Infra and San Lorenzo Ruiz Builders and Developers Group, Inc.
