Over 1 Million IPs Get Vaccinated Against COVID-19 – NCIP

MANILA, Philippines – More than one million Indigenous Peoples (IPs) have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).

NCIP physician Dr. Angelica Cachola said Saturday that a total of 1,072,452 NPs had been vaccinated against COVID based on the commission’s records.

“Sangayon, mayroon na po tayong na nabakunahan na IPs ayon sa talaan ng ating Komisyon (So far 1,072,457 IPs have been vaccinated based on our records),” she said during the briefing of Laging Handa.

Cachola also said that the NCIP, charged with protecting and promoting the interests and welfare of IPs, has extended its assistance to indigenous peoples who have lost their livelihoods during the pandemic.

A total of 58 million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide as of October 28. More than 26.8 million Filipinos are now fully immunized while 31 million have already received their first dose.
