New Delhi, February 18: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested its former Superintendent of Police (SP) and IPS officer Arvind Digvijay Negi for allegedly leaking secret documents to a ground worker at the banned terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, its official spokesperson said here.
The spokesperson said Negi, a police officer who was promoted to the IPS group in 2011, was arrested in connection with a case filed by the NIA on November 6 last year.
The case concerns the spread of the Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT) Groundworkers’ Network (OGW) banned for providing support for the planning and execution of terrorist activities in India.
The NIA had previously arrested six people in the case.
“During the investigation, the role of AD Negi, IPS, SP stationed in Shimla (since repatriated from the NIA) was verified and his houses searched. It was also discovered that official secret NIA documents were leaked by AD Negi to another defendant who is an OGW of LeT in the case,” the spokesperson said. (Agencies)
