More IPs could be coming to Sony

Every month, PlayStation Plus subscribers look forward to free games from Sony. But a major concern is the number and type of games on offer.

However, this could all be resolved soon. With PlayStation gathering over 200 partners under its wing for PlayStation Plus, a better and stronger lineup is looming.

No less than PlayStation boss Jim Ryan believes Sony has garnered participation from virtually every publisher, from major teams to indie teams. Therefore, this could be good news for its members who are looking for more games to play.

“We’ve got big publishers, we’ve got small independent publishers. We’ve got over 200 partners working with us to get their content into PlayStation Plus, so the lineup is going to be really strong,” Ryan said on the Official PlayStation Podcast.

However, the question remains as to who will comprise this presumed part of the 200 partners. Whether it will include Microsoft remains to be seen. Bethesda and soon-to-be-acquired Activision are virtually certain. But there is no doubt that if Microsoft is on board, it would mean the possible arrival of titles such as “Call of Duty”, “Overwatch”, “Diablo”, “The Elder Scrolls” and “Fallout” among others.

Therefore, it remains a guessing game as to what PlayStation Plus IPs will have to offer. But if it succeeds, it could finally give Xbox Game Pass some worthwhile competition.

With plenty of subscribers on their side, PlayStation Plus could follow the lead of the Nintendo Switch online playbook. While it may not be necessary, offering more games will surely give PS Plus subscribers more reason to keep an eye out and possibly entice other gamers to sign up for the service.

In the meantime, the free PS Plus games for April should keep members busy. Available this month are “Hood: Outlaws & Legends (PS5, PS4), “Slay the Spire” (PS4), and “SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated” (PS4).
