Domain Names Removed from Pages Parked at Uniregistry

Thorsten from Finlead tweeted about the changes to Uniregistry’s parking pages, and I asked him which aspect he was referring to:

Effectively, if you visit a domain name parked with Uniregistry, the text of the domain name is not visible on the parked page – just the pay-per-click links. This is especially noticeable for domain names that don’t have a “for sale” banner at the top of the landing page that lists the domain name it contains.

If I had to guess, the rationale is that less text on the domain name will result in a higher percentage of clicks. I’m also assuming that since most people have some sort of “for sale” link text at the top of their landing pages, the domain name text is a bit redundant.

I noticed another issue that might be important for some people whose domain names are not listed for sale through their Uniregistry landing page.

When I went to check out the changes Finlead mentioned, I visited, a domain name that my company has had for some time. For many months now, this generic domain name has seen regular traffic and income. For this reason, I am not interested in selling the domain name so I set it to ‘not for sale’ as you can see in this screenshot:

Despite enabling this setting, the “for sale” banner was still displayed at the top of the parked domain name landing page:

Then I found out that in order for the sale banner not to show, customers need to change the “Sale Banner” setting to “Off” in the parking settings area. I was pretty sure that just setting it to “not for sale” removes the sale banner, but it doesn’t.

If you have domain names parked at Uniregistry but not listed for sale, you might want to check that there is no “for sale” banner at the top, as some people might do this for legal reasons. . Not sure if this is a change or if it always has been, but it’s good to check.

Without the sales banner showing, this is what the parked page without a domain name looks like:
