A woman hangs herself to death in Ayodhya; suicide note names IPS officer and two others – The New Indian Express

VARANASI: A 30-year-old woman working at the Punjab National Bank was found hanged in her rented accommodation in Ayodhya on Saturday.

A suicide note allegedly written by the woman, identified as Shraddha Gupta, was found at the scene.

The note named three men, including a Vivek Gupta, IPS officer Ashish Tiwari (SSF chief in Lucknow) and Anil Rawat (Faizabad police) for having encouraged suicide.

According to Ayodhya police sources, a case of complicity in suicide under Article 306 ICC has been filed and one person detained for questioning.

Originally from Rajaji Puram area in Lucknow, Shraddha joined the nationalized bank in 2015, but had been in post as an officer in the same bank in Ayodhya since 2018.

IPS officer Ashish Tiwari, one of the three men named in the suicide note, has been assigned in the past as Ayodhya’s SSP.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath will be in Ayodhya on Sunday.
